Ash Scattering or Burial at Sea

Captain Dave's Dolphin & Whale Safari provides the opportunity to disperse ashes at sea off of the beautiful Orange County coast from the peace and comfort of a private boat. This can be a difficult time and we have two sailboat catamarans, both Coast Guard certified and operated by a professional crew, for a pleasant and dignified final farewell.

Scatterings typically occur off of Dana Point/south Laguna within a 1-hour time frame. However we can also accommodate custom location requests and extended trips. Many folks like to spend extra time with the dolphins and whales that we often find during all of our excursions. For optimal ocean conditions we highly recommend a morning departure.

We have a sound system on board Manute'a so you can play your favorite music. We can also provide refreshments or you're welcome to bring your own. You may also want to bring flowers or wreathes (no wires please) to be scattered too. Hint: flower petals look especially beautiful when scattered on top of the water and make a lovely memorial marker.

Additionally, when you reserve an ash scattering with us, we will donate $50.00 to Kids Around The World in the name of your loved one. Capt. Dave's Dolphin and Whale Safari is a long-time supporter of Kids Around The World's Hope for Haiti Project and has been able to help feed over 1,000,000 people with simple pre-packaged meals that are prepared here with the help of many and distributed to those in need in Haiti. If you have any questions about the Hope for Haiti Project, you are welcome to visit their website at www.hopeforhaitiproject.com

A personalized certificate containing the date and coordinates of the service will be provided at no additional cost.

On the day of the charter you will need to have the Application and Permit for Disposition of Human Remains from the local registrar of births and deaths. If the cremation was done in California it should have been provided with the ashes. Otherwise, you'll need to contact the Orange County Health Care Agency at 714-480-6700 to obtain the burial permit. It can usually be picked up same-day at their Santa Ana location.
