Hoku Nai’a is Capt. Dave’s new double-deck power catamaran. This vessel is perfect for upscale boat rentals such as dinner cruises, a burial at sea, corporate functions, Catalina Island adventures, and daytime coastal experiences including whale watching.
This fast and stable catamaran is specifically designed for passenger comfort and panoramic views from both the main deck and the elevated observation deck.
Guests will enjoy a beautifully appointed interior with upscale décor throughout the vessel that celebrates Dana Point’s famous surfing culture and recognition as the Dolphin and Whale Watching Capital of the World®.
On the first floor, the main deck is fully enclosed for climate control. As you enter, a lounge area with three sofas provides a comfortable place to relax and chat. Moving forward of the lounge are plenty of bench seats with tables. Perfect for dining! And towards the front of the boat is a large buffet. Large windows on both sides provide panoramic viewing angles.
Also on the main deck are two restrooms.
Heading upstairs to the second floor, the observation deck has ample cushioned bench seating and is covered for added sun protection. For specialty cruises and private charters, a dance floor and bar provide guests with entertainment and refreshments!

On Hoku Nai’a you are very unlikely to be splashed by the ocean. However, you can still be close enough to the whales to smell their breath!

Fast! Hoku Nai’a is a great choice for extended private charters, including “staycations” to Catalina Island. Dana Point’s whale watching season is year-round, so there’s never a bad time for your private boat rental.

Yes! Hoku Nai’a does not provide any sportfishing tours. Fishing can cause unintended bycatch that can result in injuries or death to other marine animals. We provide an environmentally friendly way for everyone to connect with nature.
All of our boats, Hoku Nai’a included, are U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified for safety.
