How It Started
It all began with a little yellow sailboat, six passengers, and passion for ocean animals.
Captain Dave was surprised to discover how few people, including other boaters, knew about the wealth of sea life off our coast.
How It’s Going
The yellow sailboat has been upgraded to six unique vessels, the largest of which can carry 149 passengers.
“The ocean off Southern California is a prairie. A free-roaming range like the plains of Africa. Home to animals so beautiful they should be treasured like a living, breathing, moving Yosemite.”
– Captain Dave Anderson
Our First Viral Video
Published in January 2013, these stampeding common dolphins filmed by first mate and photographer Mark Tyson was our first video to receive global attention. It remains one of our most watched videos and it’s no surprise why. As the saying goes, come for the whales and stay for the dolphins!
Our First Viral Drone Video and Most-Viewed Video of All Time
A combination of three drone videos in one and published in February 2014, this popular video has racked up over 15 million views. The footage, filmed by Captain Dave, features a dolphin stampede, migrating gray whales, and mother and calf humpback whales.
Our Most Heartwarming Video and Most Memorable Mugging
In early 2023, we welcomed the new year with a surprise birth! A migrating gray whale gave birth to her calf in the waters near Dana Point. Then the proud mama brought her baby over to our boats to show it off!
