Offshore Whale Watching Adventure to Catalina Island on “AllsWell”
A 9-hour dolphin and whale watching safari aboard our newest boat, AllsWell, with experienced marine naturalists familiar with the waters and wildlife off Catalina Island.
Of course, Mrs. Capt. Dave’s famously yummy Triple Fudge Brownies served when we return to the dock.
Itinerary (Time Frames Approximate)
Depart Dana Point Harbor and head to the east side of Catalina Island. Estimated travel time depending on conditions and sightings is 60 to 90 minutes.
If ocean conditions allow, we’ll travel to the back side of Catalina, where large whales such as blue whales are often seen. Remote and untamed, the backside of Catalina offers a look at California as it was before settlers arrived, with eagles, bison, and other wildlife.
After circling the island, we’ll come around the west point, and stop at the picturesque Isthmus/Two Harbors to look for bison and stretch our legs.
We’ll cruise back to Dana Point, arriving at the harbor around 5 pm. During the ride home, you’ll have more opportunities to enjoy the amazing whales and dolphins off Southern California.
More About Our Zodiac AllsWell
AllsWell is our largest, 31-foot, rigid hull inflatable boat (zodiac). Achieving speeds up to 37 knots AllsWell is our fastest boat, too! With a hull that’s extremely close to the water’s surface, you can be within arm’s reach of the dolphins, whales, and other marine wildlife. GoPro friendly! U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified for safety. Features heavily padded seats with plenty of elbow room, a large sunshade, and a restroom.
Important Safety & Comfort Information
AllsWell is unique, and as such, has special safety information that differs from our other vessels.
The minimum age on this special, extended cruise is 13 years old. If your child is younger than 13, please contact us to discuss.
AllsWell is very low to the water so you may encounter ocean spray. We suggest keeping electronics, camera equipment, and any other items you don’t want wet, stowed and secure while the boat is underway. You’re welcome to bring a GoPro, and to prevent loss or damage when filming underwater, please wait until after the boat has slowed down and your Captain gives the OK.
AllsWell has ample cushioned seating for all passengers. Feel free to bring food and drinks – it’s a long cruise and there is a bathroom on board! Please limit what you bring to items that can fit in a backpack. We do not recommend extremely large bags or coolers.
Because AllsWell offers a fast and bouncy ride, plastic-bottled beverages that can be closed and easy-to-eat food that won’t be swept away by the wind, such as sandwiches, cookies, and granola bars are suggested. To prevent spills please do not bring open cans of drinks.
Yes, there is bathroom on AllsWell. There are also restroom facilities nearby on land that are available to use before departure and while ashore at the Isthmus/Two Harbors.
AllsWell has a very low center of gravity. For guests concerned about feeling seasick, this means the boat might feel more comfortable.
