We see Blue Whales May through October, Gray Whales between December and May, Fin Whales and Minke Whales year round, as well as Killer Whales (Orca), Humpback Whales and other whales throughout the year. We see more wild dolphins off Orange County than anywhere in the world! We see five species of wild dolphins off Dana Point, Laguna Beach, San Clemente, and Newport Beach, sometimes in megapods as large as 10,000, all year round. Southern California hosts the greatest population of blue whales on earth. Blue whales are the largest known animal to have ever lived. Blue whales were almost hunted to extinction but are now protected worldwide by international law.
