Featuring Exclusive Eye-to-Eye Underwater Viewing Pods

Get eye-to-eye underwater with dolphins and whales! Feel what it is like to swim with wild dolphins and whales, without getting wet, in our Underwater Viewing Pods.

Featured exclusively on Capt. Dave’s high-tech whale watching catamaran, Manute’a.

Off the coast of Laguna Beach exists one of the best locations in the world to see magnificent whales and mega-pods of wild dolphins throughout the year.

Laguna Beach whale watching visitors depart from romantic and historic Dana Point Harbor, located less than 20 minutes from many popular resorts including the Surf and SandMontage Laguna Beach and the Inn at Laguna Beach.

Whale watching off Laguna Beach offers breathtaking vistas, beautiful beaches and more wild dolphins than anywhere else in the United States!

Laguna Beach whale watching trips are unique because the waters surrounding Orange County have unusually deep underwater coastal canyons within one mile of shore, where small fish live. The kind of fish dolphins and whales love to eat! That means that on most of our whale watching trips, we don’t go much further than five miles to see amazing dolphins and whales.

While visiting Laguna Beach, get UP CLOSE & PERSONAL with year-round whales and dolphins!

Are you ready for an immersive, unforgettable, smile-plastered-to-your-face, better-than-Disneyland experience?

How close can you imagine getting to a whale? Close enough to SEE them? Close enough to HEAR them? Imagine being so close you can SMELL their breath! Sorry, krill flavored breath mints not provided. Stand downwind at your own risk!

Come for the whales, stay for the dolphins! Intelligent and interactive, the delightful dolphins that inhabit the waters off Laguna Beach year-round are sure to put a smile on your face. Several species of dolphins are seen, including occasional visits from the largest dolphin, orcas (killer whales).

Splish, splash kids of ALL ages (yes, that means you too, Grandma) LOVE our exclusive Eye-Spy Dolphin & Whale Tram Nets that put wildlife just beneath your toes. Bonus: it’s also a great way to cool off on hot summer days! Landlubbers fear not, you can stay dry and watch whales in the cabin area.

“The boat is exceptional, with the unique underwater viewing pods providing an UNREAL underwater perspective, and their staff is outstanding with their impressive knowledge and concern for wildlife and conservation issues being obvious in everything they do.

One thing I particularly enjoyed was the obvious passion Captain Dave had about the environment and the wildlife.”

Five-star customer service, knowledgeable marine naturalists, and friendly smiles await your arrival.

With a maximum of 49 guests, our whale watching boats never feel crowded, and they’re eco-friendly, too. Some of our vessels carry even fewer passengers for a very intimate whale watching experience.

Captain Dave’s two Underwater Viewing Pods are available exclusively on our whale watching boat Manute’a. Surrounded by windows on both sides, you’ll view animals as they were meant to be seen – swimming wild and free.

Mrs. Capt. Dave's Triple Fudge Brownies

Mrs. Captain Dave’s famous Triple Fudge Brownies, made from her homemade recipe, are served on every whale watching safari. Shhh, don’t tell the animals: some folks enjoy the brownies more than the whales!

“Wonderful trip! Staff knowledgeable and courteous. We were lucky to see 2 humpback whales and 1 Minke + scores of dolphins. I really liked that the Captain went out of his way to steer the boat over to a raft of mylar balloons so that they could be removed from the ocean while he stressed the importance of keeping our environment healthy; not something you always experience on a commercial venture. I will definitely return and bring other friends and family.”
