UPDATE 8/1/2014: Thank you to Gayle, the KTLA News team, and all of the awesome passengers who woke up very, very early to join Captain Dave for a memorable dolphin and whale watching adventure. Video clips from the safari are below.
We hope you are all having a spectacular summer. In the last few weeks we have been extremely blessed with so many amazing and rare animals. Giant blue whales have been here almost every day. Fin whales and minke whales are making regular appearances, too. We’ve had multiple unusual visits from mother and calf humpback whales. And a very rare (only 12 off the coast of California, Oregon, and Washington) Bryde’s whale! We’re seeing huge numbers of dolphins, including our favorite bottlenose dolphin “Patches”, whose unique black and white markings have made him famous. Sharks, too, have been making their presence known, including rare hammerhead sharks. Dana Point has a smorgasbord of marine wildlife!
Something else that we are thankful for is to have Gayle Anderson, from KTLA News, join us for her fourth Dolphin and Whale Safari. Gayle wants to share the huge pods of dolphins and magnificent whales we see with her viewers. She’ll be broadcasting LIVE from Manute’a on Friday, August 1, 2014.
Unfortunately all tickets for this special dolphin and whale watching trip are sold out. But you can still join us from home! KTLA News broadcasts from Channel 5 in Southern California. Here’s the schedule: 7:15am LIVE, 8:10am LIVE, 9:45am LIVE
