Mini Cruise to Catalina Island and Whale and Dolphin Watching Safari
We took the mini cruise to Catalina Island this past Sat (Oct 28) on the Manute’a and had an awesome time. Our boat was crewed by Capt Dave, Capt Marie and Capt Chuck, who were all extremely knowledgeable, friendly and fun on the trip to and from Avalon. We saw lots of dolphins on the way there and dolphins and 2 humpback whales on the way back. It was a great time and Capt Dave and his crew were awesome – from the reservation, check in process and actual trip! Highly recommend them and will definitely do more trips in the future! – Via TripAdvisorVivian G

Mrs. Capt. Dave’s Suggested Catalina Activities
“We love Catalina and try to visit at least once every summer. It’s like visiting a quaint European coastal town. And it’s a taste of Heaven! Whether it’s the dolphins we see around the island, or a beautiful bald eagle, the wildlife is amazing. If I had just four hours to spend there, I would try to do some of the following.”
A one hour tour on a semi-sub to the Lover’s Cove sanctuary to see the amazing fish there. Thousands of blue rockfish, kelp bass, and orange Garibaldi surround the sub’s windows as they are fed from above.
A two-hour golf cart rental that winds up to the Catalina Conservancy Botanical Gardens where you can enjoy a 30-minute stroll to the top of the Wrigley Memorial.
The drive can continue to the top of the zlp-line launch area and finish with a quick stop at the historic bell tower for that iconic photo of the harbor. We often see deer on the way, so keep your eyes open for them!
Grab a bite to eat
Have lunch at one of the island’s waterside restaurants. They are all lovely.
Don’t forget about dessert
Enjoy a delicious scoop of gelato or ice cream and take a selfie with the island’s bison sculpture.

Take in the scenery
