Wet Factor

Close, but not likely to get wet.

Any closer and the dolphins will think you’re one of the pod. Likely to get splashed.

Very close. Leave your shoes in the cabin and introduce those toes to daylight because there’s a good chance you’ll get wet if you go up on the bow.

Close. Depending on conditions, possibly your feet and/or lower legs if you visit the bow while boat is going fast.

Not too close. Unlikely to get wet at all. But you can wet your whistle in our upscale galley!

How photo friendly are the boats?

Perfect for media productions looking for a fast yacht with experienced wildlife naturalists.

Great for GoPro fans! (Yes, selfie sticks are allowed).

Great for wildlife photography, though be careful with expensive electronics on the bow. A telephoto zoom lens for wildlife both close and farther away is a best bet.

What Do Passengers Say?

If you want an excellent chance to see marine life and get the shots you need, I recommend chartering ORCA. ORCA was the perfect fit for our film crew of 5...our only issue was where to point the camera because there were too many blue whales. Great boat, great captain, Big blues. THANKS DAVE! – Matt C., Bethesda, MD

I was on the July 11 tour. It was my 3rd time out, first time on the new catamaran. It was great. So much closer to the whales. Got awesome pics. – Jen E., via Facebook

The boat was the smaller catamaran, the Dolphin Safari, which is the best boat because you are right on the water. You could look down and see animals swimming under the boat! The water was so clear, too. We saw baby dolphins swimming with the mothers! The boat takes just 20 people, so it is pretty small, but everyone gets the same view, and you never miss anything because it’s on the “other side of the boat.” The bow waves splash into the boat over the netting a little bit (which is great when the weather’s warm) and the quieter engines of the Dolphin Safari mean the animals aren’t spooked as much. I’ve done lots of whale watching and this is the best! – Classiccartraveler, Los Angeles, CA

What a great trip! I have been whale watching many times, but this was by far the most fun. Our kids LOVED the front of the boat with the suspended netting and the underwater viewing. We got up close to a humpback whale and a huge pod of dolphins. Fun, fun and more fun. I bet this will be a big highlight of our trip when we ask the kids what was their favorite. - Charlie M., Chandler AZ, 7/6/15, via Yelp

“So worth it” This was an amazing day on the water and Capt. Dave and his crew do it so well. The Lily was a beautiful and comfortable boat and we had a WARM day on the water in January. Got to see whales and loved how peaceful and calm the whole day was. So worth waiting for and we will be back! And you get great brownies when you dock! – M W, Orange, CA via TripAdvisor
